Our Story

Tommie Plank and Leona Lacroix founded Covered Treasures Bookstore in 1993. They located the store in the historic Chapala Building, built in the 1800s and originally housed the first mercantile of Monument, Colorado. The bookstore grew from one small room to three rooms with a selection of new and gently used books. As time went on, Leona retired and Tommie continued ownership. She added many unique sidelines including locally-made greeting cards. The store is immersed in the Tri-Lakes community helping local charities and school districts. Local authors are welcomed here to sign their titles and we support the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce.
